School Board directors are volunteers elected by the community to four-year terms. Their most important function is to hire the Superintendent of the Schools, who serves as the CEO of the School District. The School Board also provides an annual evaluation of the Superintendent’s job performance.
School Board directors are charged with voting on important issues such as:
- school district policy
- tax increases
- changes to planned instruction, which is the educational program used in the District schools
Four Upper Darby School Board director positions are up for election in 2013. If you are interested in running for a seat on the School Board, you need to submit a completed application, including necessary signatures, by Tuesday, March 12th.
